Privacy Policy
7-8 is an app for dance teams and dancers, operated by Mission Dance Complex LLC, a California limited liability company ("7-8," "we," "us"). This policy explains what information we collect when you use the 7-8 app and 78dance.com, how we use it, and the choices you have.
The short version
- 7-8 teams are private and invitation-only. You only see the teams, dances, and content you've been given access to.
- A dancer's practice videos and feedback are visible only to that dancer, their connected parent or guardian, and the Leaders and Teachers authorized for that dance.
- A Mini Lesson coach sees only the clip and question a dancer sends them. They never see team content.
- We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.
Information we collect
- Account information: your phone number (used to sign in), your name, and optionally an email address and profile photo.
- Team information: the teams and dances you belong to, your role (Leader, Team Teacher, Dance Teacher, Dancer, or Coach), and invitations you send or accept.
- Content you create: choreography videos, music, practice videos, and feedback (text, voice recordings, video recordings, and drawings), plus the titles and notes attached to them.
- Mini Lessons: the clips and questions you send to a coach, the coach's feedback, and your plan and purchase history. Payments are processed by our payment provider. We do not store full card numbers.
- Contacts (optional): if you choose to invite someone from your phone's contacts, we use only the contact you pick to send that invitation. We do not upload your address book.
- Device and usage information: device type, app version, notification tokens, crash reports, and basic usage logs that help us keep the app working and secure.
How we use information
- To create and secure your account and verify your phone number.
- To show you the teams, dances, videos, music, and feedback you're authorized to see, and nothing else.
- To send the notifications you choose (push, text message, email, or a daily summary), such as new choreography, new uploads, or new feedback.
- To run Mini Lessons, including processing payments, paying coaches, and handling refunds.
- To fix problems, prevent abuse, and keep 7-8 safe, especially for young dancers.
Text messages and emails from 7-8 never include private details like a dancer's name or feedback. They only say there's something waiting and link you securely into the app. Message and data rates may apply. You can turn text messages off at any time in the app or by replying STOP.
Who can see your content
- Dancers see their assigned dances and their own uploads and feedback. Never another dancer's.
- Leaders and Teachers see the dances they're authorized for, including the dancer uploads and feedback in those dances.
- Coaches see only the Mini Lesson clips and questions sent to them, and only for a limited time.
- Parents and guardians connected to a dancer under 18 can see that dancer's activity and coach interactions.
Service providers
We use trusted providers to run 7-8, including for hosting and databases, video streaming, text messaging and phone verification, email delivery, push notifications, crash reporting, and payments. They process information only on our behalf and under agreements that protect it. We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect someone's safety, or as part of a business transfer, in which case this policy will continue to apply.
Children and young dancers
Many dancers on 7-8 are under 18. A dancer under 18 uses 7-8 with a connected parent or guardian, who controls notification settings, approves Mini Lesson purchases, and can see coach interactions. We do not knowingly collect personal information from a child under 13 without verifiable consent from a parent or guardian. If you believe a child under 13 is using 7-8 without that consent, contact us and we'll delete the account. Private messaging between adult coaches and minors outside of the recorded Mini Lesson is not offered.
Keeping and deleting information
We keep your information while your account is active. Completed Mini Lessons and saved feedback stay available to you as described in the app. You can delete your account from within the app or by emailing us. We'll delete or anonymize your personal information within a reasonable time, except where we must keep it for legal, safety, or billing reasons. Content you posted to a team (like choreography) may remain available to that team unless you delete it.
Your choices and rights
You can view and update your account details in the app, change your notification settings, and request a copy or deletion of your personal information. Depending on where you live, including California, you may have additional rights to know, correct, or delete your personal information. We will not discriminate against you for using these rights. Security
We protect information with access controls enforced in our systems, not just in the app's screens, along with encryption in transit and limited staff access. No system is perfectly secure, so please keep your phone and account safe.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes, we'll update the date above and let you know in the app or by email before the changes take effect.
